Hey, I'm trying to help my friend fix up his prelude, but I don't know anything about this car and the ATTS system. I just noticed a leak coming from the ATTS in between the "MCU" and the transmission. The shaft seal on the right side of the MCU. I was wondering if the transmission needs to be removed to replace that seal or is it possible (or easier) to just remove the MCU to replace that seal? That's issue number 1. Second issue is another leak dripping from the timing belt cover. Supposedly the crank seal was just replaced, so what other seal is likely to be leaking in that area? Third issue is the radiator fans stay on. The coolant temp sensor and fan relay seem to be operating as normal. The fans even stay on (only one though) when the fan relay is removed. What do you think is causing this issue? Any help would be appreciated. I will attach a few pics so you can see what I'm working with. Thanks
I wish the underside of my Prelude looked that clean, lol.
I'm pretty sure the ATTS module will be easier to remove off the engine than the transmission to get the access you are after.
The oil leak out of the timing cover is easy enough to see with some exploratory disassembly. These cars by this point are documented to death in the forums. Your friend owns a classic car now and he needs to either pay you to do the research for him or get intimately familiar with his machine. For the fans you are going to need to get the wiring diagrams (IIRC that will be in a Haynes or Chilton manual) and start working from the motor back to see where voltage is coming from.
