Help
I'm lowering my car right now and I am having trouble getting the front lower ball joint out. Does anyone know if this is possible without the ball joint remover?
Wouldnt know, I didnt take it off when I lowered my car....all you need to do is pull the bolt that holds the bottom of the shock on and then pull the three bolts in the engine bay. Getting the shock assembly out can be a little tricky, but it should just pull down and out.
The problem is I can't get that bolt out without getting the lower ball joint off, it's an SH and it has some extra stuff on there for the ATTS. I have a pickle fork but I'm afraid it will rip the joint.
you shouldnt need to remove the balljoint. the pickle fork is what you use though... just pry it in there and hit it... if you rip the rubber, dont worrk... its just a dust boot. you can replace it for cheap anyways.

if you don't have the ball joint tool, the method i use is:
loosen the castle nut but keep it threaded on the ball jt.
get some pb blaster and spray the jt.
take a hammer, and pound on the rounded off part on the LCA. you'll see it, it looks like a reinforced area where the ball jt meets the LCA.
eventually the ball jt will pop off.
