Default Heater help

When i bought my car the heater was on constantly because the thermostat vacuum is broken or something, So i just turned the tension cable under the hood to cold. Problem solved. Now its finally starting to get cold in SoCal so I need the heater, mostly for defrosting the window. So i turned the tensioner back the other way but Im still getting no heat. What else could be broken?

As always any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Check your thermostat........check your diaphgram - because it could be stuck closed - so no coolant can get to the heater core. Check your door cable on the 'hot cold' slider thing.
