WTF?

O2 sensors are heated, they are made that way. They need to be hot to work properly.

The heaters can and do over heat and many times will take out a PCM. replace it or unplug it.

I got it on the way my car is running so rich and spewing fumes out the exhaust which I am pretty sure is the o2 sensor causing it

Is it throwing a code for the o2 sensor? If the car has a lot of mileage, chances are the sensor is bad. You can replace it yourself for under $100. There is also the off chance you have an exhaust leak, which will also throw an o2 code, but probably won't make your car run as rich as a bad o2.
