Default Headers, which make a difference.

It has been said that on a 5th gen aftermarket headers are almost the same as stock, not to mention any company names (DC sports). Whats the deal here is this true??? What bout greddy headers will they gain any power, or is it not even worth getting anything and just keeping the headers stock.

No offense but im really sick of people recommending a header YOU CAN'T BUY.
Yes the header is good and I think SMSP is great, but you can't buy it yet....

Mugen and JUN are the best bolt-on 5th gen headers avail.

Is that the one that not only can't buy but also can't get any dyno numbers for?

Ok cool, I know mugen is the best out there but im not ready to drop a G for a header, too pricey. So what bout something that you CAN buy and is within a non mugen price range.

greddy makes a good header for the price, anything is gonna flow better then a stock manifold, i picked up a DC for less then a 100 bucks, and noticed some gains

USED Mugen!

It says full mugen treatment in your sig... maybe you should change that!

get the greddy, youll have to ditch your cat, get a small test pipe, the DC is absolutely worthless crap for the h22, i gained 3 tenths in the 1/4 by switching from the DC to the Greddy also netted 2 1/2 mph top end..theyre like 360 brand new, SS...very nice

NOTE this only apllies if you have a 5th gen, the greddy was only made for 4th gens, if your a 4th gen no prob, 5th have to get a tiny test pipe, but definately worth every penny

And there were noticeable gains with the greddy header? I wasnt even aware it would fit a 5th gen. I also didnt know there was such thing as a "tiny test pipe". I thought all test pipes just made your car smell like gas and sounded horribly loud.

Also, check out the Kamikaze 4-1 header for the ludes, nice increase over the tiny DCSports collector. http://www.importparts.com

that's meant for supercharged cars, it might actually hurt performance if you use that on a slightly modded NA car.

As for fifth gen headers, I chose SMSP which I bought ued off of Corey. If I were you I'd wait until it's in production and buy it.

On a completely factory H22 the Kamikaze header produces more power over the entire rpm range than the DC header. The collector size on the DC header is comparable to a B series collector, which chokes an H22. (2.2 liters of displacement vs. 1.8 liters). The SMSP header is even larger than the Kamikaze, so with that thought wouldn't it hurt performance even more than the kamikaze?
One mod that is very common is to cut the collector off of the DC header and weld a larger size in its place. I'm in the process of performing this mod myself.
Check out some posts on Preludeonline.com, very informative
