Default header question

I did search for this info and I did find one thread that was close
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=174687 but it was for the differences stock header on an 5th gen sh vs dc header and there were no real noticeable gains in performance and hp. I have a 98 lude type s Stock exhaust. I noticed it has a factory header. So is it worth to replace factory with after market on the type s lude? I don't want to waste money if all its really going to do is look cool. Is there a significant gains in hp and torque (significant = 5-7 hp gain)

it IS worth it to replace the factory header... just not with the DC. If you want some good performance you can easily get a significant amount of power from a Mugen or SMSP header. But expect to pay more.

so you have a factory type-s 5th gen? did you have it imported from Japan or do you mean you have a 5th gen base (non SH)?

ok, just wondering cause the 5th gen type-s is strictly JDM as far as i know. but as far as getting a header, i would go with a mugen or SMSP. i think there is another called ANR that someone here talked about that was comparable to the SMSP and a little cheaper.

Are you driving a Civic or Integra?

The Mugen Header for the 5th Gen is 4-2-1! If you get one, make sure you get the one for your car. The Base and SH Header are different.

I have the Mugen Header, Exhaust, Suspension, etc!! I love it!

Really?... Why don't you go out to your car pop the hood and also try to look underneath it where your header would be.

If you look from the top, you will notice that you have 4 pipes extending from the engine block. Follow those down and underneath your car.

You will notice that they converge into 2 pipes. Now, keep following those 2 pipes and you'll notice that they converge into 1 pipe before going into your catalytic converter or test pipe!

See... you have a 4-2-1 Header! Mugen doesn't make a 4-1 header for the 5th Gen Prelude.

Why don't you call King Motorsports and ask them. I've been there and talked to them a lot, they are quite helpful!
