Default header question

I just bought a prospeed header and it is made of mild steel rather than the extra 200 i would have had to pay for ss. I plan on wrapping my header in headerwrap anyway but I figured I needed to protect it a little more so I was gonna use a high temp paint and go over it a couple times. Will this be sufficient or should I do something else. Thanks

High temp paint will coming off after a couple hard runs.
Wrapping mild steel is not the best idea either.

Send it to be coated w/ ceramic.

header wrap will cause it to crack easier. Also, be careful not to bottom out, the header does sit kind of low.

will it sit lower than my apex'i n1 exhaust cuz my bafflle on my exhaust scrapes over some speed bumps. Also, is it gonna be over 100 to get coated in ceramic?

I sprayed mine with 1200 degree paint with ceramic. I then oven baked it at 700 degrees for 2 hours. I havnt had a problem with it yet. The problem i think people do is paint it with out oven baking all the chemicals off it. Then it sees very high temps quckly and just peels because its still burning off the chemicals in the paint.

Check out http://www.cermakrome.com

They have some ceramic thermal barrier coatings that you can apply at home, and they work quite well. My dad has used the black satin coating on some mild steel headers, and after four years everything is still good.

Otherwise, send the pipes out for coating, if you have the money. But do stay away from the wrap.

why stay away from header wrap?
Also how did you apply the black satin and how did you prep the header for the application.
