i have a 98 base prelude. i got a skunk2 i.m. and installed it. but wen i start the car it revs up to 7 grand then down to 1500 rpms and keeps doing it by itself. could it be that it is obd2 and the skunk2 doesnt use egr? or wat? im stuck

gasket leak at IM probbably. Did you tighten the bolts in the proper sequance to proper torque (I believe its suppose to be a criss cross pattern working your way out). I'm not sure if its common practice but I used a tiny bead of liquid gasket (high heat res of course) on the gasket to ensure it doesn't leak.
If I do have to pull the IM again I'll likely have to resurface the mating points a touch but for the next couple years I know it won't leak. IM leaks are the worst.

TPS???
Did you replace the old IM gasket or use a new one?
Tightening squence is very important. Its usally torque all bolts 1/3 of way whole way around, then tourqe 2/3 all the way, than tourqe down to spec on the thrid try. And when reusing gaskets the gasket maker stuff helps too!

No, it's not the TPS. Again, you have a vacuum leak, probably from the intake manifold gasket. Some of those bolts are hard to get to, so check the torque on all of them again.
The TPS mostly just affects the A/F ratio, it has no way of physically making the engine rev higher. That would be the IACV and the FITV's job (to control idle).

did you scrape the old gasket off?

Also, i know when i installed my skunk2 i.m. i had like 2 ports for vacum lines that i didnt use and i put little plugs on them to block them off. Idk just a thought.

i tried unplugging iacv and starting it and it just jumps from 1000 to 2000. but with it plugged in it goes up to 7000 and back down.

How did you end up using those hoses without the box? Just trying to get a mental picture here

i took the box off the stock one and mounted it below the skunk2 wen i put it on and connected the hoses on the s2 where they went on the stock i.m.

So you are not sure what you're doing really. That box is for the IAB system (dual stage intake runners) which is not on the Skunk2 manifold, only the stock one. Don't use that box with an aftermarket manifold.

oh ok thats wat i figured cuz one of them opens the butterfly valves in the top part of the stock i.m. but then if i dnt use those then there are 4 ports that have to be plugged????
I don't know if it's 4, but there will be ports to plug.
Are you using new gaskets on EVERYTHING? Throttle body, TPS, intake manifold (3 gaskets for stock manifold), IACV, FITV, etc? A tiny crack in a gasket can cause a bad vacuum leak.

yes to the i.m. and throttle body but i didnt take off the tps. and on the iacv it has a rubber double o-ring and i didnt think they need to be replaced each time
Then your gaskets shouldn't be damaged from age anyway. FYI as I understand it the Skunk2 manifold only provides gains at very high rpms. You are likely loosing low-end power and not using the top-end you might be gaining, judging from the mod list in your signature.

i got the s2 because my egr ports are clogged in the stock one and didnt feel like paying some1 almost 200 bucks to do it so i went ahead and got the s2 for what i will be doing in the future so i wouldnt waste money

A $2 can of carb cleaner and an hour or so will fix your EGR ports....

ive done that twice and it didnt do anything so the next step was to have them drilled out and put in new plugs
