i just bought a 94 prelude and it has a snapped timing belt. this is my first honda and im not to familiar with the motor. i know its a h23a but is that what came in 94 or is that a newer one and is it vtec?????? if anyone could answer these id really appreciate it!!!!!!!

the 92's came with ONLY the f22. The 93-96 came with either the F22, H23 or H22. Look on the head, if its an h22 it will say VTEC lol, It's kind of hard to miss. I;m drunk as hell someone correct me if im wrong.

goodeal im drunk now too. this is a friends car and it does not have vtec on the valve cover. the block has h23a1 on it. i dont know **** about h23's so.. yeah. thanks!

h23's were available from 92-96. you probably bent most of your valves also

I agree w/ Flip. You may have done damage to your valves. The h23 is a great motor IMO, and you can beat the snot out of it and it will run great.

92 didn't all come in f22s either........they had h23s

Yup, the H23 was in all 4th gen's, w/ the VTEC H22 being from 93-01.

To fix his problem, you have two options: buy a new motor and ECU and do the VTEC swap, or throw a new head/rework the busted head and use a new timing belt.

I have a spare H23 head sitting in my garage for sale, if ya need one pretty cheap.

how cheap is cheap man cuz im hurtin for money if you know what i mean??? but i was thinkin of doin a h22a swap but if its cheaper to rebuild the h23 then im just gonna do that. but let me know how much and were you live
