Default H23 VTEC dyno plot

Heres the dyno graph...

The set up is basicly all OEM...

H23 Block:
Stock H23 crank
Stock H23 rods w/ ARP bolts
Type S Pistons
New mains/rods/thrust
New Oil/Water pumps

H22 Head:
Stock Cams
Stock Valves
Portflow 3 angle valve job
IB valvetrain
IB Spec IM Prototype
SMSP Header

This motor was purpose built for the street, to run on 91 octane and to be a reliable long lasting daily driven type of set up. Jeffs previous H23 VTEC ran for several years with no problems, even with the daily abuse of 8000 rpms... ran like a champ... I expect more of the same from this motor...

Heres a dyno of his old motor...

This motor continued to run strong long after this graph was recorded in 2000...

Last I saw it was in 02, thats the last time anyone has seen it actually... I think the guy Jeff sold that car to moved out of state...

More proof that the H23 VTEC can be reliable

Very nice Graph. Is the row along the bottom of the top graph 'time' in seconds?

Dont know to be honest with you, thats almost always a measurement in rpm though so Im assuming thats what it is... I wasnt there for the dyno session, I spoke to Jeff on the phone right after and asked him to e-mail me the graph...

I just e-mailed him and asked him about it though...

Rick, I have asked you this in the past, but I am really interested in alternative IMs right now. I have a design of my own I am throwing around, but I really want to see some more info on IB's design.

Is there anything you can tell me about it?

Well, Im not part of IB and havent been for a while now... I was around during the idea stages of the IM but not for the process of testing Jeff is doing now... I know its a short runner design, I also know it raises peak slightly and broadens the power band but thats really all I know about it for now... Ill be runnning one on my motor in the months to come just to test it out...

dynapacks always say flywheel but it's at the hubs...so usually a little higher than at the wheels, but it depends on calibration really

can you get the graph with RPMs on it.. and you're pointing to the HP curve and saying it's torque

****, its kinda confusing to me too... I got the graph e-mailed to me as is...

I dont think he meant to point directly to the green line starting point... I think he meant for it to be more of an area generalization point out...

I dont know though, Jeff does what Jeff does... lol, sometimes theres just no way of explaining it...

my only guess is that that dyno shows the lowes and highest values in the x and y axis, maybe he didn't mean to point at the green line, but like you said where the recording started it recorded 153 ft lbs of torque

According to jeff, the numbers at the bottom represent time under acceleration... At least thats what i think he said... I was kinda doing 4 things at once while I was talking to him... I dont know, Ill talk to him again today and see what he has to say...
