Default H22A Engine Assembly Question

Need some advice from one who really knows. This is not the first engine ever built in this shop...just the first H22A! Trying to understand the Factory Manual but the guy who wrote it is smarter than I am. It all doesn't seem to make sense.

a.) The crank is polished to stock. There are seven main bearing sizes with like part numbers; two with another part number; 1 one still another.

Have torqued the mains...and the engine is locked.

b.) Assembled the rods...all with the same part numbers on the bearings. The engine is too tight...well...it is 54 pounds at the crank nut to turn it.

What is wrong? Bearings not sized correctly? Should not all the bearings have the same part numbers?

c.) What is the maximum rod/main clearance? This is a turbo-kit.

d.) IF we cut this crank .10 under...how much clearance do I have put into it? How do I know which bearings to order...rods and mains????

Thanks...for any direction.

Default Re: H22A Engine Assembly Question (xwingz2)

did you plastic gauge the rod & crank before assembly, if you did and all clearances checked out, the most likely cause would be a bent crankshaft not visible to the naked eye use two v blocks and check the run out. btw what color bearing did you use. also check piston to cylinder wall clearance. each rod and crank journals have letters/numbers to get color code on bearings.
