Default H22 trying to boost..Need Help!

Hey,

I new to this forum and need help! I am trying to boost my lude with a Garrett T3/T4 60trim .63 a/r. I was told that in order to run more than 9psi of boost I would have to sleave the engine. They say that the H22 can not take more than 9psi with out the block cracking. Has anyone had this problem? also those who are running boost would a 38mm wastegate be sufficient or should I go lower?

Does anyone recommend and cams for boost and what compression should I get my pistons for? My goal is to get 450whp or more? Please help?

I am not sure on the wastegate size, however je pistons makes some bad *** forged light-weight pistons @9:1 compression ratio. I am running these in my lude on 20psi and they rock. I am also running eagle H beam rods. "THE" cams to get for boost are the crower stage two turbo cams. They are an incredible difference. With a turbo you don't want overlap, just alot of lift, so your stock cams work agains you pretty badly. The prelude block will not crack, they are full of it, unless you start to run in excess of 20psi on a stock block. However, with that high of compression, you will start running into detonation problems after 10psi, trust me, that is why my engine is now built. I used the msd boost timing master and I even ran really rich to cool the combustion chamber and I still ended up breaking a piston ring land which appears to be from detonation. Anyway, ask around, you can't miss with the je forged 9:1 pistons. I had my block re-sleeved with darton race sleeves. They are the best but you will pay out the a$$ for them. I also upgraded to the skunk 2 intake manifold. That is the way to go for better low end torque and good top end hp. That makes up for the compression drop.

If you plan on making 450+ hp then yes you will have to build the motor. I am running darton sleeves je 10:1 and crower rods. The car makes 350 whp @11 psi and on the c16 tune it made 503@17.5 psi. The head is fully worked with a golden eagle im and a 3" turbo back exhaust. Gl with whatever you do.

there are alot of people making 400 hp with stock cams so i think they are perfectly suitable with whatever power u are looking for. The block cracking is not the problem it is the ring lands on the pistons. When they decide to let go, which i think the idea is around 300hp, u will have to sleeve because they FRM sleeves in the h22 are not compatiable with forged piston. Some people will say that wiesco rings will work but i dont know for sure.

yep the ringlands are crap, in the h series they have a nikasil lining in the cylinders.

when you use aftermarket pistons, they require you to resleeve
