No. We use the one that lools like a regular rectangular motor oil bottle.

I believe I got it from AutoZone. I know it wasn't Advanced Auto or Pepboys.

There are two types, regular and friction modified. You guys are talking about te regular one.
Most people look for the friction modified one. It has friction modifiers to help synchronize things more. It helps with shifting smoother, but many speculate it'll accelerate wear on your tranny as well.

Or go to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com
Type in Part Number 12377916

I've done a lot of reading on Synchromesh and here are my conclusions
For a non LSD tranny it's best to use the non friction modified type
The friction modified one can add friction to the tranny, thus supposedly "wearing it out quicker"

I heard that you shouldnt use syncro mesh in honda trannys because it is made for GMs which have a different type of syncro stack. Thus the honda trannies will not get enough lubrication onthe bearings and such. If you think about it it sounds like it would make sense. I have been using straight syncromesh for about 2 years now and I have had no problems but I just wanted to get a few more opinions.
yeah i always use the round bottle too. The dealer told me the square bottles are what they use in the heavy duty trucks and stuff, and they use the round bottles in cars and light trucks.
as said above, penzoil and gm sycnromesh are the same thing. penzoil makes it for gm and gm just bottles it themselves. go to autozone and look in the heavy gear oil section. it will be within 15ft to the left or right of the motor oil. its in a tall round yellow bottle. its no more than 5 dollars a quart. and h22 transmissions take exactly 2 quarts.
I work at a penzoil oil change place and have bought GM syncromesh before. Straight from the 5 gallon bucket, pezoil synchromesh is a little darker than that of GM synchromesh... is there any reason for this?
If everyone does a search....
The square bottle is Friction Modified.
GM Part Number 12377916

The round bottle from GM and the one from Penzoil is NOT Friction Modified.
Most people have better success with Frition Modified.
