Fuel Filter
I need to replace the fuel filter on my 1993 Prelude Si. I called the dealership and the part is $28. I can get one at Pep Boys for $18. I was just wondering what kinds of experiences people had with this. Is the generic part okay to use, or should I stick with the Honda part? Is there something else that is recommended? Are there any dealers that offer a discount? Also, I'll be due to replace the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Are Honda parts recommended or is there something else that works better.
I know these are pretty basic questions, so if there's an FAQ or some other informational site that covers this stuff, please point me to it.
Thanks,
Ben

Stick with Honda parts has been my method. Generic stuff can usually cause problems down the road. I've known guys that replaced their worn out honda o2 sensors with Bosch e.t.c. only to have the CEL light to come on and stay on. OEM equipment is just made better for your particular car.

that is true (to a certain extent). if you are doing the maintenance yourself i would use the generic. if there is a problem you can replace it easily. but if you are having a mechanic change it (the fuel filter) then i would stick with oem. just so theres less chance that you'll have to pay for labor twice.
also when it comes to your plugs, wires, etc. you should stick with ngk's but shop around for the price. the dealer will overcharge you on the plugs and wires. look around on the internet and you'll get them much cheaper.
try this website, they are cheap but you may be able to find a better deal.
