as with any other motor you need to put money into it in order to get it to put out high hp numbers. no motor will jump really high in hp or tq without doing some serious work, or at least taking things apart. the usual bolt-ons do not add that much hp to any motor, unless someone can prove otherwise. i would like to see some dynos on some cars stock vs. bolt ons (i/h/e) if anyone has them to see which honda motor will jump to high hp with the usuals. even the all mightly h22 can't increase hp and tq by large numbers without internal work and some port and polishing, or turbo or nitrous.

135-143 (B20A5 - B21A) hp stock is not bad for an exteremly light car...

yes, internal mods are a must. (alot of the reason i am frustrated with the motor is cause i am more frustrated with myself and my knowledge, or lack of)

if 90 si is on this site (member from hondaprelude.com) i would love to know what kind of numbers you are hitting right now.

still venting

if you're ready to spend at least $2000+ you'll see some high HP numbers. until then, be happy with the 140 you got.
i'll tell ya how to make a monster out of your motor. just get your checkbook ready.
-first, get aftermarket rods and bearings.
-then, get some nice pistons.
-turbo kit from ludespeed.com along with all accessories.
-aftermarket clutch to handle all the power.
-a new valve train would be nice as well.
-turn up that boost to 15lbs and you're set.
the B20A5 motor is great for turbo. the bottom is very strong since it's iron sleeved. and with those new rods and bearings you can boost safely.
my friend's turbo third gen puts down 248hp to the wheels. some diet and some nice sticky tires make it a 13 sec car.
