Default front radius rod Zero play bushing?

Hey guys, I made a spherical bearing radius rod kit for my 5th gen (base). they should also fit the 4th gen preludes. I'm using this set on my race car. I wanted to test the waters to see if it would be worth my time in having 10 to 20 sets made up by a machine shop.

....thus my question is who would be interested in having these for their prelude with a price of about $120 (free shipping in US)?

They work great under hard braking, you will have less darting around, they also help wheel hop a bit from a standing start. The bearings can be easily replaced if they wear out. You can see from the pic above a hard poly bushing will help eliminate some (not all) of the unwanted deflection, because they can't make the poly too stiff or it will cause the suspension to bind up. A spherical bearing will have near zero unwanted deflection, and have zero resistance to the needed suspension motion.

What's your timeline? I'm interested in principle, but would need some time to get funds together for a set. Also, I'd have to know for certain that they fit 4th gens without problems.

Are you also working on an adjustable UCA kit for the Prelude? Any thoughts on the ETA of those?

if i can find a way to put them in a DA, i would definitely be interested.

for all you prelude road racers and track ******, this is a big thing. i'd jump at the chance, esp for only $120...

I could have these out by the 1st of year.
Then I'm going to get the LCA inner bearing kit out,
Then the upper control arm after that (...I hope)

I was thinking about going to a 10mm head bolt so you can just put a socket on it.

ur gonna have to cut the stock sleeve to play with the caster with that kind of setup.

the bearings will wear out quickly if you daily drive and expose it to the elements, i wore mine out in like less than a year. never bothered to replace teh bearings though, too lazy,

i got my from opm motorsports for about the same price few years ago, not sure if the price is the same now.

oh yeah monkey boy, u might wanan check either opm or progress, i think they make smaller ones for your teg. i konw they make em for the crx, so those might be interchangeable with ur teg?

OPM might, but i know that the progress bearings are discontinued now.

I think the prelude ones will fit in the CRX/Civic/DA/Accords with crossmembers as well.. I need a set for my accord, I would rather buy them through you then OPM.

Just a note: You do have to drop the crossmember, drill some holes, put some spacers in to get correct caster. It will take some time to install this, but VERY, VERY well worth it! Probably the best mod I ever did to my racecars.

i was able to drill the holes with the crossmember on. the thing that takes the most itme is setting up the caster, cuz u need to remove the strut rod every time u want to make a change.

not really. It is meant for competition use, your not going to gain anything on a DD car. Also the bearings would need to be replaced at least every year on a DD car. Replacement bearings would be about $35 for the 2.

Update!
I should have these ready in 3 to 4 weeks. The machine shop is working on them right now. I made some small changes (for the better). They use 10mm hex bolts, with 10mm hex lock nuts, and I put an angle on the inside of the center hole for better range of motion. I installed the prototype on my car, took the springs and shocks off and was able to move the suspension from full droop to max compression (upper A-arm hit the inside of the shock tower), with no binding of the sperical bushing.

I have more info and pics on my web sight (see below), click in the news with date 12-28-05.

PS. some form of dust boot is in the works.

So these would work on a 4th gen also?

I’m not 100% sure. I need someone with a 4th gen to make some measurements for me. I need the following:

Diameter of the threaded section of radius rod
Diameter of the radius rod "bushing socket" on the cross beam.
Diameter of the center hole inside the "bushing socket" on the cross beam.
