found one TYpe-s
ok so i was wondering..the guy here at a local JDM shop wants 5500 CAD for a h22 type-s 98 very clean full kit..electronic LSD tranny everything...
i was wondering if this first of all is expensive (sorry i dont have the curent x rate)
then the guy said that he might take my 97 h22a4 engine for a trade plus some cash...but im not sure how much i should look to get a trade for ...
my engine has 76 000 miles and it dosent really burn oil...and goes really well..
now my other question is...should i look for type-s parts instead and just work my 97? although i know the 97 dosent have the same crank journals as the 98-00
thanks

if you have that kind of money(5500) to spend then youre better off spending it on your current motor. with that kind of cash you can easily out perform a type-S
5,500.00 CAD
Canada Dollars =
4,948.27 USD
United States Dollars
dude, that's a lot of cash, you could get your current motor running pretty sweet with that much money..
header, high flow cat, cat/back, intake, cams/springs retainers, maybe even springs/struts w/ all that (depending on what you buy). what is your current setup? any mods? i'll price together a sweet setup for that much cash...

it depends on the milage and codition of the engine for something that expensive i would check to see if the harness was cut and see if there was a compression test to check for leaks

If I were you I would get this:
Crower/skunk2 springs (I would get crower just personal preferance) $450 the sell the titanium retainers that come with the springs if you get the Crowers.
Stock retainers(not worthe getting titanium IMO)
Skunk 2 stage 2 cams $660
SMSP or RMF header $1200
Quaife LSD $800
Hondata intake manifold gasket $50
Total: $3155 + labor
And you could probably get some type S pistons installed and still be under your $4900 price tag.
I would just stick with the motor that you have now and mod that. Its your best bang for buck. I wouldnt get the titanium retainers because you have to replace them around 16k if I remeber right and its not worth it for an extra 500 rpm but this is just my opinion.
*edit: Ive never heard that the 97's have different journals then the 98+ Is this really true?

coll thanks everyone for the comments and tips, well i dont know for sure (as in i didnt take apart a 97 and 98 to see the diff) but a 98 + crank does not fit in a 96 97 h22
wow the retards are showing up for this thread....
1) unless i am incredibly mistaken, type-s's were never brought over to north america,
2) that means, he either has a 98 type-sH or its the engine and tranny by itself (if so, then wtf does a full kit on an engine mean?!?!?!?!)
3) whether its an actual type-s motor or a type-sh lude, they both have ATTS, which is not an electronic lsd, lsd locks both wheels so they are spinning the same speed in a straight line, ATTS diverts torque to the outside wheel while turning
4) for ~$5000 usd or canadian, u could buy a set of oversized type-s pistons ($2-300), new rings ($100), type-s cams (couple hundred???), and u could prolly find someone to install all of them for $500-1000 and end up with the same motor...
5) if u do number 4, for that much money u could have done a lot more stuff to increase power
6) for the $5000 the "type-s" motor costs, u could have a 250-300whp turbo'd lude (thats about the max before needing to resleeve), or a 220is-whp N/A lude, both of these are at least
before u do anything, 1) ignore the rest of the people in this thread (cept for Boarder) and 2) spend the next 6 months reading on this site learning to figure out 1) what mistakes other have made that u can learn from and 2) how to identify people like this who know nothing cept what their APC friends tell them is cool
