Default Flowmaster 50 Exhaust

Anyone here have Flowmaster 50 muffler for 5th gen Prelude? Anyone know how does it sound after I put on a 2 1/4" piping, Mugen header, no resonator but still have OEM catalytic converter? Thanks.

i know flowmaster has an import line of mufflers, but i don't believe chambered mufflers sound good on 4 bangers. Leave them for domestic V8s and V6s.

Can you recommend me a performance muffler that's quiet, possibly as quiet as stock and look as close as possible like stock? Most people recommend me Mugen or A'PEXi WS but, well, I don't have $1000 to spend on Mugen exhaust and I don't like the look of the A'PEXi WS. Thanks.

Isn't Thermal muffler not quiet at all? I'm not sure though.

i know you said you didn't like the look of the A'PEXi WS, but ive seen it priced as low as $370-$400. which is not too expensive for a bad *** exhaust. you should really think about it.

There's an ad in the back of SCC that advertises Thermal (and other) exhausts from www.landspeedracing.com. And no, I can't vouch for them personally. Hope that helps.

just get a silencer if you want a close to stock sound. Tanabe HM, Apexi n1, 5zigen to name a few.

Thermal R&D catback on my 99 Base ROCKS! Contact cementups@aol.com for his pricing. You will get the closest thing to stock in appearance (polished 2.25" stainless from end to end) that you will find. Fit, finish and install are dead on. The twin tips are very nicely done as well. It is louder than stock-but not objectionable-I just turned the stock stereo up 3 clicks . It does meet California noise requirements, so I'm told.
If you decide to do an axle back only be very careful as the resonator does serve a purpose-controlling the loudness of the system. The full cat-back is well worth the price.

So basically any performance muffler, no matter how loud they are, as long you add the silencer, it'll be quiet?

Thermal is loud even with a resonator, but it looks nice though with the dual tips. However i'm getting a apexi ws this spring cause i'm sick of the noise.

If your looking for just a Thermal muffler with dual tips, i have the 18 inch model with dual tips on my car. I'll sell it if anyone wants it when i get a apexi ws since it'll be useless.

If you want one new, get Magnaflow. I paid $208 shipped for my Thermal muffler and tips from RE-racing.com 3 years ago. The Magnaflows are cheaper and make the muffler for Thermal. http://www.exhaustproslinc.com

tanabe hyper medalion is very quiet. i had one on my car and i was damn quiet even with a striaght pipe. for stock looks you'd have to put on a smaller tip and maybe paint the muffler black.

the N1, that's nice but you have to have the silencer in for quiet which cuts hp.

may as well just buy a apexi ws.

one of our sponsors rpmmotoring is having a groupbuy on them.
