fix ticket
I got a ticket for a modified exhaust. If I were to sell the car would I need to remove the exhaust first or could I just sell it to the new owner with the exhaust still on? What will I have to do with the ticket if I don't have the car anymore?

It shouldn't cause them any problem, all of your personal info is on the ticket and they usually just scribble some sort of make-model for the car (at least on all 20 of the tickets I've had they did
). If you sell the car nothing happens, they say you need to take care of this ticket you got.
You think if you sell the car they will just say "Oh, you sold it, OK we forgive you"? Probably not...I am not an expert at Cali law though. You might consult an attorney if you really care that much about it.

It's too much work taking everything off. I wouldn't mine paying a fine but when I sell the car to the I don't want the new owner to have any problems. Also one more question is could the cop pop open your hood just for an exhaust? I was only driving in front of my house doing 20 on a 25mph st.

if you take a pic of you car with the exhaust, then put your license plate on the same color car (like a friends)with a stock exhaust (or if you have pics of your car with an older exhaust) you can tell them you got it fixed and they will probably throw out the ticket. could also do the same with the engine
I don't think a cop could open your hood without some sort of warrant, did you open it for them? did they ask you if they could check under the hood, people don't realize you can say no

man that bull crap. so dat mean i gotta take everything off again and take the car to the state referee to get it sign off. why do they even sell these parts in cali if we can't use them???
Your setup might be legal. Inquire with the manufacturer.
I am not a lawyer and am not licensed or whatever to give out legal advice. However if you want to listen to another idiot with computer and internet access then read the following: I cop cannot search any part of your car other than what he can see without touching it without your permission or a warrent. They often use statements like "you don't mind if I look in your back seat" etc. or something else very assertively to trick you into consenting. Whenever you get pulled over you do not have to roll your window down all the way. If a cop asks you to get out of the car, roll all of the windows all the way up, step out and lock the doors. If he says anything that indicates he wants to look inside your car say "I do not consent to any searches." Say it again if he still wants to search. Also never answer the question "do you know why I pulled you over." Try to ask them whey they pulled you over first and or just silently wait for them to tell you. Now none of this may apply in CA since it has so many super ultra mega liberals that are trying to turn it into a facist state so follow my advice at your own risk or better yet consult a real lawyer. I meant no offence to Californians or liberals because for the most part I like both.

Exactly, you have to pay that ticket or the fine will escalate for not correcting the modified part. You could even get a hold put on your license if YOU do not take care of it.
The new owner has nothing to do with the fix it ticket unless he gets pulled over and gets harasses. Just get it fixed and be done with it.
CA cops are @sses and will find anything to give you a ticket.

Dis sucks! I would understand if they pull me over for speeding or racing. This the last time I do something to a car. This has cost me way to much time and money and now I got take everything off again because some cop was bored and wanted to pull me over for FUN! and right when it was running fine!!!
The only way to avoid this problem is to move out of CA or buy a POS domestic cause they never harass them. You rarely see a camaro or mustang pulled over. Racist SOB's! Sorry for the negativity, but as you can tell I've been through hell and back with these guys before. Good luck man!
sorry but there are alot of ricers in Long Beach. I can see why the cop messed with you. Imagine how many wannabe racer imports are out there giving preludes a bad rep.
