Default Engine swaps

I'm new to the import scene. Ive grown up with muscle cars in my drive way but never a Honda. So if i come off a little stupid bear with me.

I'm currently driving a 95 Prelude SI. Now I've heard about people swapping RSX engines into civics. Now my question is would an RSX engine be any better than the preludes si engine? Or even better, will it fit? If no on both, what should i be looking for? Id really like to get something else in there even the VTECH since I'm running on 250,000+ miles. I'm also looking into a new clutch something with a longer 5th since i tack out at 130.

Any performance parts ideas or opinions would be appreciated. Any websites where i can learn a thing or to would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yes it'll fit, and it's already been done to a 5th Gen. Prelude(97-01). I'm pretty sure someone has already done it to a 4th Gen(92-96). or is in the process of doing it.

ok, since you're new to hondas i'll be nice about this: its VTEC not VTECH. and now on to your question.

the RSX's K20 engine will fit in the engine bay, but you will need custom mounts since nobody mass produces a kit for this type of swap. also you will be converting from an obd1 to an obd2 setup ,which could cuase problems with emissions depending on how tight they are in your state.

a more common, cheaper, and practical swap would be the H22. these motors can be found for much cheaper, involve less work to swap/fit, there is tons of imfo on the swap and how to do it, and you can still stay emissions legal and daily drive it with no problems. hope i helped a little, and welcome to the import scene.

If money isn't an issue to you (cause you mentioned swapping in a K series) I instead would suggest you a EuroR H22 and swap that in instead. Much easier, and the best OEM Honda H22 there is out there, better manifold, better tranny etc as the gearing is different, lsd etc. etc.

Im pretty sure both the k20 and k24 (RSX and TSX engines) can fit into the bay of a 5th gen. a k20 (RSX) will fit for sure, k24 (TSX) im unsure of. Also, a clutch will not give you a longer gear, and why the hell do you want to go above 130mph? You're not in the gumball.... Anyway, you'd need a tranny with longer gearing, or replace the the final gear. Also, you dont tach (not tack) out at 130mph, your tachometer refers to your rpm's, not your mph (or kmph).

Already been stated easiest/best option for many reasons would be the euroH22, OR the JDM h23 vtec (but replace the bearings). A USDM OR JDM H22, would be an improvement as well.

Improvement parts? KYB/AGX shocks/susp, an apexi WorldSport/WorldSport 2 exhaust, Header (DC for smog purposes, anything else for actual performance numbers), 9-10lb flywheel, OEM clutch, Cold Air intake .... those are the basics.

if you wanna get real serious....

GT35R turbo
Blitz blowoff valve
Custom manifold
A 3.0-3.5 Full back exhaust (from the downpipe -> exhaust, would need a larger custom collector, no cat/test pipe)
Port Polish head
JE/Golden Eagle Rods
Cams
Ferrea springs / valve retainers
Resleeved block
Id suggest a Neptuned ECU, but theres not many people who tune Neptune, so Hondata is the next best option, or AEM EMS is pretty popular too.

theres way more, but this is a rough idea

EDIT NOTE: If your purchasing a new engine/tranny setup, PLEASE spend the extra 300$ to get a LSD, it will save you so much headaches, and improve the performance drastically
