engine flushes?
Hello,
I have a 1988 prelude SI with 149,000 miles on it. Recently, I took off the valve cover for painting and to my surprise the valves and pretty much everything else was covered in sludge (little pieces of burned oil) were everywhere. Have been reading a lot about the Bilstein R-2000 engine flusher, and it sounds safe and less expensive than 4-5 constant oil changes. What do you guys think about oil flushes, I know Honda (stealership) doesn't recommend them but they have always steered me wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

sometimes on cars with high miles it isnt a good idea to do an engine flush unless its previously had them on a somewhat of a regular basis. you might end up with some knocking and valve tapping. i guess all the sludge and stuff keeps it quiet

Do not, for the love of God, put any of those garbage , snake oil potion engine flushes through your car - they're horseshit in a can.
If your engine is dirty, it's because you're not keeping up on routine maintenance and oil changes; run through some fuel injector cleaner, replace your air filter and do 2 oil changes in the next 3000 miles.
I just adjsted my valves, on my 150,000 mile 99 prelude and the cams, valves, etc looked new - very, very little perceptible wear on the cams - everything was clean, but I've been good about keeping up on oil changes, etc. I'm not trying to gloat, just illustrate a point.

im with those guys dont do it man
not a good idea expecially with 140miles
your gonna get alot of problems..
valves will make a nice noise
maybe even some pistion clappin
lol
not good to do on cars expecially hondas with their ring sealing problems wont help at all
u'll prob end up buring alot of oil afterwords
id just suck out whatever you can with a vacuum or what not
then get a couple of frequent oil changes.. (2k miles ) or something
even try a double guard filter to grab the gunk better for the next two or so oil changes other then that not much else id do if i were you

I don't like adding any solvents or engine flushes either. Possible Old School Remedy: Add about 1/2 a quart of ATF in the engine. Run it for about 10-20 min until hot and then do an oil change. ATF is still a lubricant but it has more detergents than motor oil.
Still, doing frequest oil changes is the best way to keep that sludge out.

engine flush things like that are only good if you use them all the time like every 10,000km. If you just straight out use it the carbon build up in the engine will wash out and u will find oil leaks n **** everywhere
