Default Engine Damper

I've searched briefly and I couldn't come up with any Prelude specific engine torque dampers. Can we use the ones offered for Accords? Also, if you have one, how well does it work? Any replies would be great. Thanks in advance

It works great if you can keep the bracket that attaches to the upper control arm mount on top of the strut mount inside the engine bay from moving.. I think i'm gonna have to have mine welded...(Accord w/ H22A)

And i'm almost positive that it will work on the preludes as they have pretty much the same chassis as the Accord..

Yes, the Accord damper works great, you just have to drill one hole slightly larger to mount it.

And what about torsional or twist movment of the motor?

That damper looks like money down the tube.

(sarcasm) Oh, wow thanks, I guess I'll have to mount another damper sideways. (sarcasm)

We don't have huge torque-monster electric motors that instantly deliver 500ft/lbs of torque, so I really don't think twisting is anything to worry about. Even if it did twist slightly, would it really even matter??

A damper helps keep engine movement minimal, so it works fine for me.

I'm not talking just about the engine's torsional movement, I'm also talking about the damper's movment.

And how do you know you've minimized engine movment, optimally, with the damper?

It's cool, whatever you like, but I'm always skeptical.

Well, the damper could easily twist in certain places, but it's very rigid along the center axis, which is the only thing needed to keep the eninge still in that one direction. I've never really thought about the engine moving in any other direction that forward/backward.

I know I've minimized the movement based on quicker throttle response and lots more vibration . It's a lot stiffer from idle to acceleration. I don't know that it's optimal though...

Thanks for the mature discussion...I was hoping there wouldn't be any e-arguements.

If that's what you were going for, it's doing it's job -- it's just that there are usually peripheral concerns that can't be addressed and maybe, if it was measured, 99% of the longitudinal movment could have been eliminated with stiffer motor mounts or inserts -- who knows?

It's just hard to rely on the mind -- placebo effect and all.

I've never seen or heard of it before. But it seems like a good item. I can see my motor shake when I start up the motor. I can also see the motor lean back when I revv it too. I give it a thumbs up
