Engine code for Type S / JDM H22
Sorry guys I'm not big on Preludes but curiousity killed me:
Guy I know says he has a Type S motor. I looked at it and it said "H22A." He said you know it's a Type S because it only says "H22A." I saw somewhere awhile ago that the JDM prelude motor was "H22A," but I don't know what the Type S engine code is. Does he just have a JDM prelude motor or am I confused?
Thanks

That's the thing - he got a new one - red. I forgot to ask him if the original one was blue and I barely ever see this guy.
There's no real good way to visually identify a TypeS motor other than the Red valve cover (which could be very easily swapped by a scammer). All the JDM H22a s have the same block code, "H22a", regardless of power output or model year. The TypeS will have a different air intake tube, so if that is still attached, that might give you a clue... It will also have the ATTS system attached to the tranny. It will come with 2 computers - one is the ECU, and the other is the ATTS control unit.
Also, the blue valve cover is only found on JDM Accords, not on Preludes...

check to see what year the motor is stamped. all type-s motors and the typer/sir counterparts that use just a regular lsd tranny are all newer model h22a's.
