I could not find this on the site so I am posting it. I have an engine light come on my car and its a single flash when I turn the key on and then it stays solid. I have a 98 honda prelude standard. My oil is good, antifreeze, all other fluids. What could this be? My car is running great, I did change my spark plugs and distributor cap recently and they are NGK so they should be pre-gapped.

you have to get the code checked. most auto parts stores do it.

I researched and found out not using premium gas could pop up the check engine light, I only used mid grade two times and the engine light came on. When I got home I filled up with premium and fuel management filler. I reset my battery and have been running the car for about 20 miles now with no check engine light on. I guess honda's are picky about their octane.

well im glad it was that easy. your fuel door does say premium only.

 

That is true but I guess my mind says "im cheap". Now I learned my lesson, don't cheap out on everything.
