engine close to driver side
I did the auto to manual conversion on my 4th gen a few years ago and recently learned about the tranny mount bolt hole relocation. This morning when I supported the tranny and removed the bolt to try to get the engine to slide to the passenger side it only move about 1/4 inch or so. Not enough to drill a fresh hole in tranny mount bracket. Is it possible that I have the incorrect driver side mount? I remember changing it before and it was difficult to bolt up. Is there a driver side mount that looks just like the 4th gen driver side mount but have shorter distance between mounting points hence placing the engine too close to the driver side wheel well? I have like 2mm between the power steering belt and fender well. I did pry apart the passenger side mount bracket to engourage it to move easily in that direction but still no joy. I tried jacking the tranny mount pass the point where the engine would be level too but still no joy. Sorry for the long write up but just wanna paint the perfect picture.
All the other mounts are the same.
I'm not sure I would drill a new hole into that bracket, the thin piece of metal in between the two holes could give and the bolt would then be able to move all over.
If you can, have the mount welded in.
