Just bought my third honda and returning to this forum after many years. 98 prelude. To go for the more clean look im trying to remove the rear emblem, but when its off i have those two little stubby plastic pieces stuck in the trunk. I have seen more preludes without the emblem and it be very smooth. How can i myself get that where it looks like an emblem was never there? Or cheapest? Plz, i just got her at the dealership and i want that clean look.
when i took off the emblem to my 99 when i had it i remember there were two holes in the trunk that the emblem's stubs go into-nothing sticking out of it...maybe the emblem broke and those pieces are still lodged in the trunk somehow?
take a pic of it, then i'll b able to know what ur talking about 4 sure. my guess is that u'll have to somehow remove those stubs, then put body filler in the holes and paint it back up. but idk-just load up a pic and it'll make what ur sayin crystal clear and i'll be able to help u

Well, your right and my description was off. It is those two little pieces where the emblem slides into. The emblem didnt break its just those two little nubthings? And about filling and repainting, isnt that a really big expensive job just to have no emblems? Is there any DIY? Any prices and/or procedures and most description would of course be very helpful.
There's no DIY unless you're capable of doing body work yourself. Take it to a paint and body shop and tell them you want the holes filled. They'll give you a quote.
It's not as simple as you think, most of the cars you've seen had it done while their car was getting repaired and/or repainted.

I've always wanted to do that also, along with the front H emblem.
My front bumper has quite a few paint chips on it also so I've always wanted to fix that while im at it.
Is the only way to do it to have a body shop do it?(saying that I dont know body work)
Also, I'm guessing theres holes behind the Prelude emblem as well right?

Ya I did mine when the car was getting repainted. I don't think it would be possible to make it smooth w/out repainting or if your really good with body work. Heres a pic of mine w/out the emblem

I think it was at IndoPak in the chicagoland area not sure though. My uncle got it done for cheap though.

yes yes i know that was a good threadjack, very random hahaha. Anyone have any answers for it? Also, i just used a small flathead to get the emblem off, why do i need a heat gun?
A heat gun will soften up the glue and let it come free without pulling the paint off. Just be careful not to get it too hot and burn the paint. If you have to fill the holes and repaint then its not as big a deal. The heat just makes it come off easier.
I bought the silverstars as well and was pleased with the output. Then my buddy got some cheap ebay fake-HID bulbs that he gave to me, and when I tried em out, they were actually brighter than the silverstars
Been running them a few months now with no problems, doesn't glare at oncoming traffic since it's just a bulb, but the output is still bright and white.
So IMO, don't waste your money on those expensive silverstars.

Hahah im not laughing at you but maybe its the comment. You said if you have to fill the holes and repaint then its not that big of a deal. To take out the plugs, fill, sand, primer, paint wet sand, polish, wax i think thats a big deal to do to the whole trunk. And if you dont do it to the whole trunk wont it look like you only painted and worked on one small part? My thought is how much more expensive is a carbon fiber trunk when compared to all that work??? Sneakysneaky question, aint it?
yea maybe a carbon fiber trunk, but if you dont like the look of the CF then you will have to get it painted anyways so it will be CF+paint or just paint

I dont believe there are holes behind the prelude emblem because mine are off and my bumper is smooth as a pancake (whatever the expletive that means). Also, as far as the red emblems, i know its rice or cheap but i went to this "import store" in the mall and they had them both for 24bucks. They looked like the $50+ ones so i figure why not. If you cant tell the differance who cares. Anyone know where i can get the jdm fogs for cheap! Also, can you use hids in them?
Hmm ill take off the prelude emblem then
Also one quick input about the red H emblems, you guys know that they stand for Type R right? However, there was never a prelude type R..so It would be kinda sketchy putting them on you know? But then again its up to you
Just my opinion
