Default electrical problem/question

i was driving home in mny 98 lude and the gauge lights suddenly went out. Odd i thought. so i get home and notice my tail lights are out too. so i check the fuse and yes it was blown. I replaced the fuse and yup it blew again. Im trying to find a short or something but cant find much. just need some ideas on what can cause this. Also is the a seperate fuse for the dash and tail lights????
thanks in advance

did you just change head units or make any recent changes to your car? I was working on the sound system and left the interior light wire hanging out (stupid me) and it hit the body and bonded to it or something and then i kept blowing fuses

I've had the same thing happen to me with the illumination wire.

on most stereo wiring diagrams, I thought yellow was constant power, and that illumination was usually orange... I could be wrong.

Yes, I believe that fuse controls your taillights as well.

Do you have an aftermarket stereo?

If so, pull it out and take a look at the wiring behind it.
