Electrical Issues
I have a 93 prelude Si shell with a JDM H22A motor in it. About 5 to 6 months ago the alternator died (replaced it) then the battery died. I replaced the battery that was in it with a Optima Yellow top which was completely drained in about a month. I charged it and about a month later again, it was completely drained. A few days after that my alternator died again (replaced again). The cycle repeated and now I have an Everstart battery in there and still having the same problems. I have been through 3 alternators and batteries in recent months. Ive checked all wiring, grounds appear good, there is no stereo in the car, not even a head unit, no special wiring, and the battery is in stock location. My mechanic says he thinks the Electronic Load Detector is going bad on it so I need to run a smaller battery with fewer amps. Ive searched but my problem does not seem to have the same symptoms as an ELD going bad. Any suggestions??
have you tryed starting your car and letting it run w/o the batt... sounds to me like maybe your wires from your alt to your battary mite have some shorts for faults in them, causing your batt not to charge fully
Yeah it definitely sounds like a short leading to a voltage drain somewhere on your car. I have a buddy who has the same problem with his 90 Mitsu GSX. Goes through alternators and batteries like gas. Look up some info on how to find voltage drains on cars and get to testing. Good luck.
