ecu problem...help
So my car is locking the rev limiter at 4g's. Thois happens everyday after i drive the car around for awhile and the engine gets hot. The ecu get triped into locks the rev limiter. After i park the car and it cools down the problem is gone. The radiator is fine, the temp guage is not reading too hot. Im not sure what the problem is, the only thing i can think of is maybe the itercooler is blocking too much of the radiator. anyone got any ideas?
well since no one has replyed ill take a stab at it, first of all you need to make sure that you didn't throw and CEL codes, if you did then you ecu would go into limp mode depending on what code it is. i don't know what the rev limiter is set too on a si when its in limp. also you need to tell us more about your setup, are you runing a stock ecu and black boxing and using a FMU or did u go withs oemthing lime aem or hondata. how long has this been happening, ever since your turbo or very recently? try taking it on the highway where you have some high air flow, and see if you still hit the rev limiter. ive heard of some ecus that when they have a problem witht the primary control chip they switch to a secondary and limit the revs. try totell us more
well the car is now a fifth gen, and im running a hondata. The car overheated once and that is when the problem started. The seems to be no consitancy to the problem, its just does it sometimes after you drive it then shut it off. The computer is going limp because it is reading sometihng, but what it is i dunno. Since after you park the car for awhile it goes back to normal, im just assuming it something overheating.
what do you mean its a 5th gen now? your running an h22 or h23? if your running an h22, are you still using your h23 computer or is it the actual h22 ecu???
if your running the h23 ecu with the h22 then your motor is trying to go into vtec, but the computer is responding..... im sure that could be something that happens. i know if you use an h22 ecu on an h23 when the ecu jumps into vtec it will hit the rev limiter on the h23. does any of this make sense?
