Default Ecu chip recommendations

My friend just dropped a JDM H22a (stock) all he has bolted on is a aftermarket intake wich isnt much. And he wants to buy a chip for his car that will make his car run smooth and strong. Does anyone know a website or someone where my friend could buy the chip from?? I know he can find them on EBAY but the chances of getting a good chip are very low. So if you have bought a chip that is making your car run smooth and strong he will really appriciate it if you give me info. THNX

You need to check out the FAQ and also to read this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=567799
Now, after you read the above post, you should understand that it is not as simple as just throwing a chip in the computer, you need to acquire a tuneable ECU, get it socketed, then take it to a tuner(a PROFESSIONAL on) and have them tune it.

i'm running a spoon p13.. It's a good choice if your want to spend the money on a good basemap. I went with it, so I knew I was getting a quality product. (instead of the alternative, ebay chip) There are plenty of quality options out there, the best to my research is the hondata p72 setup, but that means you have to get ahold of a p72.. if ur friend gots cash i'd say get the p72 hondata or send to phearable.net

Hey where did you get your spoon P13 chip, Ive seen a few on EBAY but unshure if it is the same chip since some people just name it spoon chip to call attention. The EBAY spoon chip that ive seen has vtec at 5k, how about yours?? By the way my friend already has the socketed P28 and he doesnt want to get it tuned since he is on a low budget wich is the reason he is just looking to get it chipped instead of buying the origonal P13 ECU.

The only "Chip" that will be somewhat tuned for your car is going to be from http://www.phearable.net/ Anything else will probably lose HP and damage your motor. If he wants his car tuned, chip a p28 or p72 ECU and tune it with free software like chrome. For that you will need a Ostrich and a wideband.

Best advice ever: Search.

phearable.net will not be able to help you unless you have a p28 or p72. If your friend already has a p28, send it to phearable for the h22 basemaps & should be in good shape. i would not buy a spoon chip off of ebay.. bad idea. I would only run a spoon chip if you have a good shop that will vouch for it. I currently have a jdm p13 for sale.. if you are interested in that, but it cannot be chipped.

And I am not running a ebay spoon chipped' p13.. it's an authentic jdm spoon p13.

My friend already has a socketed P28 ecu, How much do you want for that ecu?? PM me with that info and i can inform my firend about it. You might have the athentic chip but you dont have the real spoon P13 ECU!! for a athentic chip. I went to erics racing with my cuz and he hooked me up with a H22 chip that he said was good But i havnt surprised my friend about it yet For Johnny at Eric's racing

ya if he already got that p28 i'd just stick with that to save cash and have ur boy get you that authentic spoon chip.. thats prolly the cheapest cost effective way to go.. save money.

and ya, its a tru spoon p13 ecu.. was not cheap. I just forked out the cash. u get what you pay for. spose you could do the same thing if you got a true chip.. but I couldn't find one, except an ebay replica.

cheers

So much bad information.

Spoon chip... are you serious? Throw that **** in the trash, i don't care if its authentic or not, its still trash.

ANY obd1, not just a p72.
IAB's can be installed on p28s as well.
p72 p28 p13

Don't pay more then 60$ to get your ecu chipped. PERIOD!
Basemaps are important, make sure you get it from a reliable source. Most sellers will just sell you a stock H program as the basemap.
IMO its better to use a program that was tuned on another car that's similar to yours, otherwise stock programs is fine.

You want a copy of the Spoon program SiR Inspired ED7? 10$ for it on a eprom, and lmk how lean/rich your car runs. lol

I just meant don't buy anything off ebay.. those spoon chips on there are junk-

if you have a reputable shop with a spoon program he should go with that.

phearable.net is a good option for a H basemap if you have a p28/p72

yea, you can get one from them for the H, dunno what it will cost.
Or i can mail you an H series basmap on a eprom for half the cost.

All this talk about spoon, jdm, chips, and my friend's cuz's mother's uncle is making my head hurt...

IMO, if you can't get a chip that was burned directly after tuning YOUR car, then stay with the stock ECU. Anything else is half-***'d bull ****.

an intake will never do enough to warrant a tune
