Default Dumb Question

I know this is an outrageously dumb question, but when putting new spark plugs in, is it required to gage them or do they already come pre-gaged for the car?

Depends on the brand. If they're NGK, and the end of the PN is -11, they're pre-gapped to the proper setting, but it never hurts to check.

Makes sense, and another question is there a preferably "better" brand?

Would the specific type (Cu, Pt, Ir) make any real-world difference?
