what are the downsides of having an air bypass valve on your cold air intake?

 

$50bux gone and NOT maximising yer CAI's full potential.
if u drive smart and don't storm the lude into deep puddles etc.... there's no need for a bypass valve.

an H22 sucked up the flappers into the valvetrain in austin here as well.

they are useless. the would not work unless your filter was submerdged in water. if you stay out of really deep puddles you'll be fine.

if you have a 2-piece intake, you'll be even better. In very very bad downpours, I just pull the pipes apart and slide a rag over the end, making a short ram intake. I only do this because my car does not have the fender liner which protects the filter somewhat.

 

holy crap... sucked in the flapper things ? damn. is AEM liable to pay for the repairs etc?!!??!?!
