Do I have an LSD or not?

I just finished my h22a swap (haven't run it yet, still gotta drill holes in the jdm header to fit the dc downpipe from the h23) and I was wondering if i had an LSD or not. I have the m2a4 tranny not the m2b4 but you could see through the axle holes clearly and when I spin the tires, both sides spin the same direction. I suppose i'll know when i drive it if it's an lsd but what do you think?

On a fwd they can be. The transition of power usually isn't as smooth as a helical unit, which can cause some scary steering reactions.
If its a factory honda unit, it will be a helical.

no pics of my car, the digital camera is in my brothers room now and he's asleep. It's a black lowered 4th gen with a cf hood, stock si rims and jdm black housing headlights, use your imagination.
couldn't figure out if i have a nice lsd or not, my motor won't start... i think i did the timing wrong eep.

Got a question about this test....does it work for evry type of LSD? I thought if you had a Quaife which is a torque biasing unit, it wouldn't work because both wheels need to be making contact(?).
(I never tried to test this with my car which has a Quaife and it's easier to ask than to jack up the car right now)

I'm not sure about the test, but you are right about the rest of it.
There does need to be at least a little resistance to both wheels for it to apply power. If you turn a corner and you inside front wheel is in the air, it will just spin.
This is why they are actually called torque biasing diffs and not lsd's.

Nope, no USDM Prelude came with it as an option. Not even the USDM VTEC Preludes.

Ya know, now that I think about it, I remember reading an article in SCC that said that.
It was when they were putting a Quaife in the Project Silvia.

I checked this with my Quaife tonight and got the same results. (One wheel spins forward and one spins backwards when the car is raised.)

Its because the Quaife acts like a normal open diff when it has no resistance.

So does anyone know the answer to this. Some people say yes, some people say no. Satan said it did in another thread. For those that say yes, do you have any documentation for it?

so i just jacked up my car and tested the spin direction of tthe quiafe. in neutral they both spin in the same direction, and in 1st, its too hard to spin cuz of the engine compression holding it, so i dunno, but i also tried with the car on, and in 1st they both spin the same way.
how are you guys testing it where one spins backwards?

I have an M2A4 tranny with an aftermarket lsd. On uneven roads in 1st and 2nd gear with WOT there will be a lot of torque steer. Downshifting at high rpms while turning will get the car all over the place. Phantom Grip POS. Try a burn out in first gear. See if it leaves twin stripes. Some of the Jap lsd's click while turning.
