difference between obd2a and obd2b??

The only difference is the wiring locations at the ECU.
All 96+ Preludes have OBD2A style wiring.

the diffrence is obd2a is 96-01 prelude have that ecu and obd2b is the later half of 01 production models. in more case honda messed up. i have an o1 lude with a obd2b block withe the bigger bearing but still retain the obd2a ecu. weird ain't

NO. ALL 5th GEN PRELUDES USE OBD2A.
MY PRELUDE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY OF 2001, AND CAME EQUIPPED WITH AN OBD2A ECU.

i bought my lude in december of 2000 when the o1 lude came out. and when i bought my hondata ecu they game me an odb2b ecu not knowing that 01 lude stills ome 01 lude's where use obd2a. that the conception i got i had. i know 97-00 is obd2a but the 01 have some minor glichs in what is what
Maybe you guys are talking about something specific to the prelude only, but none of those explanations are what i heard.
OBD2a started in 96 and ended in 98, and from 99 and up they went to OBD2b
thats how it is in other cars,
but just maybe the kept the ECU's OBD2a all the way through.....
seems like that would be against emissions laws though.
