My car threw a 9 with the check engine light and it points to the CYP sensor but, how do I replace this?

I had that problem awhile back and i ended up having to buy a new distributor. If you have a extra try it. The CYP sensor is in the distibutor if its an obd1 internal coil.

it's in the distributor and you can't buy one they come with the housings but if you have a part distributor you can take it and put it in. It's not the easiest thing to do but you might be able to do it.

Based upon your avitar, I would think this is a 5th gen? Thus making it OBD2? Your CKP sensor is part of your TDC sensor which reads off of the crank. Both of these sensors are located down on the engine block on the driver side by the crank. Its pretty expensive to replace it but i think thats what your gonna have to do.

nope, he's not right.

the 5th gen CYP sensor is in the dist. housing. the cKp sensor is in the block. but code 9 is a CYP thing, so, it's a dist. issue.

generally you need a new dist. when this code comes up. there's a test procedure in the helms, that requires a multimeter.

if you need a new distributor, get one from distributor king.

when my rotor screw came loose it opened up a can of whoopass on the internals of my distributor.. and i just took some parts from a spare dizzy and replaced what was broken. its not all that hard.
