hey experts, i'm trying to shorten my shifter... but i'm trying to find the correct size tap and die as suggested, 10mm,11mm,12mm all 1.50... where the heck can i find this thing...? i've been to the local places like home depot... they don't have anything!

i'm also putting one of those adaptors on it to shorten the throw.
i'm followiing their directions actually... but i'm just having problems finding the correct tap and die size.

i had a small shift **** on my car, setup low, but i just got a new one that sits up higher (making the shifter longer in essence) and it's so much nicer to have that extra few cm of moment arm to get through the gears.

nah but still ... ive tried to locate thoose dies according to the write up ... and its damn near impossible to find including internet untill you buy a complete tap and die set for like a 100 bucks ... so any one know where to purchast thoose????
Dudes, you don't need to buy a die and all that crap. Do what I did and weld it. Cut out a piece in the middle and weld the two remaining pieces back together. It gives you a clean look and you can keep the threads and not have to worry about the stupid die. If you cannot weld, just find a local welder and he should do it for really cheap. Hope this advice helps
if this is for a 4th gen, honestly 4bidden is the way to go, i tried cutting mine and it was crap compared to 4bidden....for 5th gen i guess u gotta cut it til a true ss becomes avail

I did the same thing it took like 30 mins to do. I also got the short shifter adapter making it effective.

I've had mine cut pretty short for a while now and have nothing bad to say about it. It is aesthetically pleasing.
I get into ludes with the stock heighth shifter and it seems wrong... all wrong.

why not just buy the greddy shift **** like i said? it'll drop the length low enough.

Anyone who's going to be cutting and welding their shifter, PM me if you want a spare one to do it on. You don't want to screw up your only shifter, and this way you get less downtime.
