Default Custom Prelude **Now with HP Numbers**

Here a custom Prelude that we just finished building. I do not have any numbers on it yet and the pics do not show the CDI unit installed so you will see the coil is sitting on the strut tower brace. Here are the specs:

2001 Prelude Type S

-Motor-
ERL Sleeves with stock bore
Endyn Roller Wave Pistons
Crower Rods
Stock Cams
Stock Size Valves
Adjustable Cam Gears
Endyn Ported Head
Endyn Custom Ported Skunk2 Intake Manifold
68MM Throttle Body
1,000cc RC Injectors
AEM Fuel Rail
AEM Regulator
Endyn Fuel Pump
Endyn Breather Canister
Endyn Oil Adaptor
-Engine was prepared by the Endyn crew-

-Turbo Setup-
GT35R .70 Comp / .82 Hotside
LoveFab Sidewinder Manifold (Thanks Cody! Manifold fits and works great!)
PWR Air-to-Water Intercooler
Tial 50MM BOV
Tial 44MM Wastegate
Custom 3" DP
Keteller 3" Exahust with Magnaflow Muffler
Custom Stainless Steel upper and lower radiator hoses
Custom Wastegate Dump

-Engine Management-
AEM EMS
AEM Twin Fire CDI
AEM EPM
AEM Pensile Coils

Those are the basics of what's it has, just wanted to see what you thought. Its going to be a fun car to drive since it seems like it spools right off idle.

With all the aftermarket parts you choose here, why did you stick with stock cams, and stock valves?

^ I think he is making more than enough power. Im not sure he will be able to put any of it to the ground if he made more power.

But yeah it looks pretty sweet. But Im not sure about the design of the sidewinder... workmanship looks great. But the turbine housing is sitting awful close to the barrel. What kind of power are you putting down?

Wow, looks impressive. How do you like the water to air intercooler?

Man I'm glad I didn't go with the side-winder manifold. Looks like a freakin nightmare.

Although, I bet the spool-up/gains are better than mine my stainless log manifold.

We kept the stock size valves since they will flow enough for what we were looking for. The same goes for the cams too.

The intercooler kit was like $1500 bux. You get the intercooler, a heat exchanger with fan, and a water pump. All we had to add was the hoses and the wiring. The intercooler water inlet and outlets we cut off and the brass 90 degree fittings attached do to hood clearance. Also it was modified for the BOV mounting tube and the air temp sensor on the cold side before the throttle body. Its cold here now and it seems to work pretty well. With the water pump off the air temp was 64 degrees, then the pump turnoed on the it dropped to a low of 30 degrees going in, but it was 25 degrees outside. The true test will be when its 90 degrees outside or so to see what the air gets cooled to!

It was actually not too bad, LoveFab did a good job building it for the application that we had. We added a spacer to the head to add a little more clearance for the turbo to fit beside the motor mount. It fit fine without it, but there was only about a 1/16" of space in there. We were worried about the compressor housing hitting the motor mount under acceleration, so we bumped it out a little.

The motor is still in the break-in period so the HP we don't know yet. We are looking for 500+ WHP on pump gas and what ever it makes on race gas. I'll be posting the dyno results here in the next month. The weather here is terrible right now, so its sitting right now until it breaks. A diff and front wheel drive do not like the snow at all!!

Defenitely interesting, I for one am anxious to see how the AEM ignition setup does under high boost, since I have seen some big spark issues when flowing that much air! GregH had to gap his plugs down to like .021 or something, and was still blowing out at about 650 hp/ 21 psi on his motor.

Edit: Greg was using MSD ignition components in a stock style setup, with AEM for the ECU.

Has that rubber coupler caved in yet during high boost? My buddy's 550 whp WRX sti had that problem.

This is a very impressive build. Never seen anything like it before. Nice to see it on a prelude.

unique build, not the usual turbo honda u see here.

does your hood close? almost looks like you cut out some of the reinforcement for clearance, or is it an aftermarket hood?

We have not had more them 6psi since it is still getting broke-in. About another 350 miles before we can drop the hammer and start shifting at redline.

The hood had to be notched to fit. Mainly we were worried about the heat getting to it, so we cut a small section out of it. The hood is a modified stock hood that looks like this. I do not have any pics of the cut piece though. I also set the AEM to turn both fans on at 160 degrees to get air moving under there and blow the heat out the top.

It’s a LoveFab Sidewinder and we paid $1,100.00. You will have to call and ask for Cody, and he can get you fixed up. They build some really nice stuff, I have there Mini-ME EQ manifold on my civic its really nice and works great too. The spool time really dropped from what I used to have. Their stuff is also guaranteed.

It will fit with the stock hood. We notched the support rail to allow a gap to help keep the heat off the hood. I believe when LoveFab deisgned the manifold for the Preludes, they used the 2001 model to base it off of.
