Computer code P0420, catalyst system efficiency below threshold
Could be either the cat or the 2nd O2 sensor. At 110K miles, I'd say it's about 50/50 as to which is the problem. I would probably replace them both.
Thanks. Where is the o2 sensor? If I try to solve the problem by trial and error, I think it would be a lot cheaper to first replace the 02 sensor. I think that was replaced on my daughters Celica at $60 or so.

Its your Catalytic Converter. replace it.
if you had a problem with either of your o2 sensors, the ECU would store a hard code on it as well.</TD></TR></TABLE>
not so. The o2 can become biased but the ecu will think that it is functioning normally and that the cat is at fault.

Haven't been able to get out the o2 sensor. I assume it has been on the car for the last 10 yrs. I put a lot of muscle on it(albet while lying on my back) but could not get it to budge.
