Default Collector Mod Question.

to all of you that have done this mod, what did you have to buy to make it work? i plan on buying a dc 4-2-1 header and take it to a muffler shop and have the header modded. will i have to pay for more than the header and the muffler shop bill? will my stock cat work or will i need a high flow aftermarket one? sorry for all the noobish questions but searching was not working for me all the threads were the same and none asked these questions that i read. thanks for your time.

This thread should shed some light.

I would get a hi-flow cat also.

You can do the collector mod yourself if you have a welder. If not, the shop can do it. It shouldn't cost that much.

I think the more logical way is to buy a cheaper header off ebay for 120, same dc design..and make sure the out is 2.5 inches, then get the high-flow cat on kteller for 155, and for about 250-300 youll a full 2.5 back exhaust and i can only hope youd get 5 hp?

why not get a 120 header already with a 2.5 out pipe? makes more sense than getting an already shitty header, then modding it. or do the 2.5 out headers not as good as modding it?

Can you find a header on ebay this actually has a 2.5 inch collector for $120?? Many of the ebay headers say "2.5 inch collector", but have been 2.0" when measured by people on h-t.

Well you can email the seller, and ask them to measure it for sure or something or another, i might do that, and if they do send you a 2.0 collector, then you get your money back. I think im going to try that because i cant find a used rage, mugen or smsp dont for get hytech

Pretty much all the ebay headers are just DC copies, so I would be very suprised if you find one with a true 2.5in collector.
