Default Check Engine Light

Ok on my 97 lude, when I turn my lights on the "Maintenance Required" light is on and the box is lit.. But when I turn my lights off the light and the box is not lit anymore.. I know on my other car when the check engine light is on it stays on no matter what.. my question is, is my check engine light one or is just part of the lighting? Thanks

lol its not a damn check engine light. there should be a little slot to stick your key in. stick it in there and woohoo it goes back to green. lol pull the code for what? the orange box ?

Its not a check engine light, its just a little light that says ur ready for a tune up. it kicks on at a predetermined mileage.

While we are on the topic, isn't autozone pulling codes for free right now?

autozone has always pulled codes for free.

Its a little tiny black slit, should be in the shape of a key right next to the little orange/green box. you cant miss it, even if you tried not to look at it, its right there above the steering column on the plastic bezel on the guage cluster. ill post a pic when i get home if its needed
