CHeck Engine
I used jumper wires on my control module to give me error codes on my car and it said there was something wrong with my Egr sensor lift (code 12) . After that i replaced the old egr with a new one and I still have the engine check light on. What is the problem? I check the error codes and it still said that i have a egr sensor lift problem.
ohhh i forgot to tell you how to reset the ECU
Next time you have a problem don't bother messing with all the jumper wires and stuff. Most Autozone's and Advance Auto Parts now have a FREE
engine code scanning service and have the auto x-ray machine to do it with. Thats where I take my car because they can scan it with the machine and then clear the codes and I can then buy the parts I need all at the same time

Unplug the battery. Don't forget to write down your preset stations in your radio. If you have a 5th gen, you can pull the 7.5 amp fuse in the underhood fuse box (easier, but you will still lose your station presets).

Well, here is the thing. Code 12 represents several possible problems:
-EGR valve lift insufficient detected, probable causes: EGR valve, EGR valve lift sensor circuit, EGR control solenoid valve, EGR control solenoid valve circuit, EGR line, bad ecu.
-EGR valve lift sensor high voltage, probable causes: EGR valve, EGR valve lift sensor circuit, bad ecu.
By just running out and replacing the EGR valve, you kind of jumped the gun. The Helm manual has like 4-5 pages of troubleshooting steps to narrow down the root cause of the problem.

Yeah i did jump the gun on getting the egr valve, but now i don't know how to check my egr system. I have a chilton prelude manual, but it is not so descriptive on some of the procedures. I guess i have to try it out to see. THanks shark.
Man, I had a chilton manual... those things are bad ***... 10 years worht of 2 different cars (prelude and accord) in about 100 pages... WHAT A CROCK OF ****... I finally got some sense in me... KINDA... The policeman wasnt thrilled about the fire in th middle of the road though

He warned me thank god, but hell... IT HAD TO BURN...

is it the training manuals or what?
cause the training ones seem to be broken down into mad specific parts, is there a general one in there, and under what.....?
