I can shoot a fireball, but only if I get two purple upgrades and one of the blue flashing ones..

hmm... do you mean accidentally or do you want to shoot a fireball?
I've heard of a few exhausts that can let that kind of thing happen, but no idea if it's doable in a tercel (not ripping on toyos, just don't know much about them) but i think that involves a race cat or test pipe and a bit of luck.

if you want to shoot fireballs (sigh) look on ebay, there are kits you can get.. they're "for show purposes" only, but basically it cuts out your spark for a second so there's a lot of fuel in the exhaust, then there's a spark plug at the end of your exhaust pipe, so it burns the fuel...

no, didn't mean a kit. my exhaust does that from time to time naturally, although I can do it on command. Yes my car runs that rich.

my mileage is bad. my car doesn't smell like gas though. it's not bad at all until higher rpm's. you don't want to be behind me when I get on it though, i leave a small cloud of fuel and other misc **** in the air behind me, and yeah i get backfires between every shift.

Check your O2 sensor...it could be screwed up.

i'm thinking I need a fpr first, then a wideband (instead of stock replacement), then a chip burner.

first off, thank you for using the search function

running rich means there are more parts fuel than air inside the combustion chamber than normal/necessary. Its not a good thing, but its not bad unless you are running insanely rich. Running too rich can be VERY bad and can ruin the motor. By running a motor too rich, you can wash the oil off the cylinder walls and the rings will eat up the cylinder walls and in the end you will loose compression.
