The other day my car started doing some weird stuff. It idles fine when its cold, but once the motor gets semi warm, it wont hold idle, and most of the time it dies. When driving you have to keep it in a low gear and the rpm's up to keep it running. Even then the rpm's are all over the place, every 2-3 seconds the rpms will just drop then go back up. Like the motor is cutting out. If you don’t keep on the gas it will die.

I'm changing the fuel filter later today just because its cheap and should be done. But I don’t wanna try anything else that’s going to cost more.

check the distibuter. mine was doing that and that was the problem.

what do you mean check it? was the distributor bad and you replaced the whole thing or what?

 

check your ignition coil it might be going bad or it could be corrosion, i have had a problem with my car stalling out latley too, mine is the clutch not disingaging, damn clutch only got 109,000 out of it

it had trouble starting today when I went out to it. but after a while it started and it idles fine 95% of the time. it will sit and idle without too much complaining.

once you drive it moves fine till you try to accelorate, even a little...it starts stumbling and running real rough. but then park and it idles fine again.

could it be the fuel pump?
