ok, first off my car for some reason, kept bogging when you would step on it...i to0k it to my mechanic and he said i had a huge dent on my fuel tank, and he believed that could be the problem, outside of the fact i had him
rip out the hondata and put eveything electronic back to stock since i believe the hondata was what was messing it up, so i fixed the fuel tank dent, and it still did it...someone recommended i change the plugs and fuel filter, and test it again, my friend did all this for me, and now it still did it, finally someone said check the oil, and it was low, so we topped it off, and now the car boggs only when you gunn it and shift hard from 1st to 2nd gear...its for a split second and you see the check engine light flash for a second, and then its fine. but what i dont understand is why it only does it from 1st to 2nd and not any other gear???
does any one have any idea wha could be the problem???

well....hmmm, not sure yet, but the next time it throws that code, pull over to the side of the road and read it out....search for a writeup on how to do that....the computer will store the code even though the light isnt on anymore....get back with the code and we'll take it from there

are u talking about using an obd-2 reader... will it read the code even if the check engine light only comes on for a second and then turns off...
sounds like you should drive the car alittle nicer. dont "gun" it. if the CEL flashes, that means its something electrical... that light should only come on when you throw a code. if you throw a code, the computer will remember the code and stay on untill you reset it.
he is right, if the light comes on, it usually stays on until you shut the car completely off.....the obd2 reader would work, but on 4th gen preludes there are 2 wires you can jump to make it flash out the code....my obd2 96 has them so you probably do too, its right behind the radio for me, blue connector with two wires, jump them with a paperclip and then read the code it flashes out....long flash is 10 and short flashes are 1 add it up then tell us....

but wha i dont understand is that it does pop on the check engine light, and it stays on...it just flashes as the car boggs for that split second...and then its fine, the check engin light turns right off...we tried reading the code and it didnt stay on long enough to read it...this is what is confussing me...
i had a car do that once....so i replaced the fuel pump. that didnt fix it. After some searching and playing with the wiring system i discovered a short in the fuel pump wiring harness. Wish i found it before i replaced the pump. I think what happened with mine was that gunning the car made the wires jump enough to contact the metal...shorting it out and bogging it down.
i have that exact same problem with my car i havent tried it yet but im pretty sure its the fuel pump...if its not giving enough pressure then it wont run right only when you give it gas. so try a new feul pump... or better yet check your fuel pressure
