CAI Assembly
Hey guys.
I just recently ordered a CAI from Racing_Guys on Ebay. I currently just want to use it as a SRI and convert it to a CAI when the weather's good. Anyhow, I know it won't come with any formal instructions. I know that the installation is pretty self explanitory, but I'm clueless on what some of the parts included in the kit are used for. Can someone give me a basic installation guide for this specific kind of kit?
By the way, here's the kit I ordered: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1
Thanks!

the hose clamps are just that... hose clamps.. they hold the filter on and the rubber connecting piece that holds the two pipes together and the pipe to the throttle body( intake manifold) and the little blue hose goes on the little vent sticking out of the valve cover to the CAI. other than that, i cant think of anything else at this moment.. a lil buzzed
Alright, thanks. But what about that flat, rectangular piece and that white object? I have no idea what those are used for. And does anyone have a picture of something similar so I can see how its set up?

Thanks! That really helps a lot. However, according to those instructions, I have to cut a hole in my fender well, or widen the hole where the air box connects to the resonator. In the CAI I bought, it said, "Direct bolt on, no modification needed. Will I have to widen the hole for this one?
Also, I noticed that in the instructions, they used an AEM. I have no idea what the diameter of the AEM pipes are, the one I bought is 3". I really really hope it doesn't have to go into the fender well. Also, can I do this without putting my lude on a lift?

You dont have to cut anything...You just have to take some peices out in order to make it fit in there...and YES it will go into your fender if it is a CAI...SRI is the one that will not go down into the fender because when the CAI goes down into the fender it sux the coldest air from there and isnt sucking the hot air from the engine bay. It also doesnt matter if it is an AEM in the instructions...its the same concept.

i bought the same intake from the same guy on ebay and teh pipe doesnt fit in to the airbox hole u will have to cut the the airbox hol;e a little bigger or cut the piip and leave it on top of the airbox hole and let it rest there!
I have that exact intake + Apexi air filter + AEM bypass valve.
1. I sincerely doubt you will be able to convert it to an SRI due to the angle where they cut the two pieces. The air filter will not fit...
2. You need to jack up your front right tire, and take it off (makes things easier).
3. The tube doesn't fit, but there's no need to cut... just bend the whole out a few mm until it fits...
4. Those "rectangular things" as you call them, are mounting brackets, which I didn't use to avoid drilling. Also, my intake sits so tight that I decided that the brackets were not necessary.
Hope this helps.

Brown-tec, how is he supposed to go back and forth from SRI to CAI if he cuts off a good chunk of his intake? This results in having neither.
