BB6 Downfall - The Interior?
I have been interested in owning a 5th gen. Prelude for a while now. I like everything about them, but I am a little unimpressed with the interior. I have only had the chance to sit in one once before, and I have seen minimal pictures.
To me the dash looks like wasted space, with no ergonomics. But, I would like to hear the opinions of people who actually own them.
I am looking for honest opinions, the pros and cons, and some pictures if anyone has some.

yeah, the interior has no "features" but what features do u really look for in an older car right? the backseat is a little tight, but if ur giving people rides.. they wont complain
It's mainly the dash I don't like. It's very rounded with nowheres to put anything such as a faceplate case or a pack of smokes.
The CRX has stash spots all over, which is really cool. It's hard going from a car with an amazing cockpit style dash and interior to a botched dash with no storage space.
I need places to keep all of these things: faceplate case, smokes, lighter, coin wash change, documentation/manual, cell phone, multitool, mini flashlight, fuses. I also keep things like oil and a mini jack, but those can go in a trunk.
I am not trying to bash the car, I really want one lol. I just wanna know what you owners do with stuff such as this. Where do you keep your ****???

center console for everything, we have a special COINHOLDER COMPARTMENT W/ MOLDED FINGER THINGS SO U CAN SCOOP UP COINS EZ.
as for stashing stuff, i have the doortrim (anything smokes and bigger)
under the deck theres the little tray thats where i'd put my lighter, i fabbed up a little spot in the trunk to hide stuff. and i normally have pants on so i have pockets
for ur cellphone u can get one of those in-car phone holder on the AC vent in the middle, there was one a while back that was a mini RECARO seat, im prob gonna raid all the little anime/japanese stores around here until i find one

Okay so I have seen the console has one spot for say a remote and cell phone, the door can hold smokes, flash light, multitool, etc. Did the center armrest come standard? How much can be stashed in there? Is there a compartment just behind the shifter?
Anyone got some pics?

The armrest does come standard. Sorry for the crappy pic:

1) It is a handle to be used for closing the door. I use it to store my cell. It is the perfect place for me.
2) Good place to store cds, books (
), smokes, lighters...etc
3) The top layer is good for holding pens and maybe paper.
4) The layer under number 3 is actually like a bucket, it holds a lot of stuff
.
5) Cupholder for two or more storage.
6) Nifty coin pocket that comes out really easily.
7) Tray under cd player.
Oh, I forgot the biggest storage of them all...THE BACK SEATS!
Lol, that info helped u a little
. By the way, those are cloth RSX seats.

i just tested my interior out, fell asleep in there and my mom thought gas fumes made me pass out
my cloths are wayy comfy.
yeah the backseat just holds stuff or little asian girls.
If i was the designer of the prelude i would of subtracted the space in the trunk in order to make just 2-3inches more of space in length for backseats. if ur riding in the backseats of a prelude it feels like an integra
oh and those are nice seats btw hamad

Nice pic, and thanks for taking the time to number all the stash spots lol. RSX seats look killer in there! Looks like there's quite a few cool places to put stuff. I'm gonna have to find someone with a Lude so I can play around inside it for a while.
Off Topic: Can the heated leather RSX seats be swapped into a Lude with heated leather?

Haha must be a Canadian option since I live in Canada.
We usually have Honda meets every few Sundays so I will have to find me a BB6 owner to harass.

Are you joking man? I know its not its strong point but give it a touch of personality. I personally love the bb6 interior done right.

what wheel is that?</TD></TR></TABLE>
That is the JDM standard edition
I like the lude interior. The only downside it the radio/hvac controls are a little out of reach compared to other Hondas/Acuras

yeah right, the integra has a lot more room. the prelude backseats just suck overall. it has literally NO leg room...especially if front passengers are tall. the backseat of a prelude is comparable to a celica.
anyways, the prelude interior is clean and simple... nothing too busy to make it look dated. and to give you a rough idea of how the big the arm rest holder thing is(#4 in the pic)...i have about 10 cds with their cases in there. you can leave ur smokes/lighter above that too, or like someone else suggested, theres a spot for it under the sunroof button.
also, there is a glove compartment... no one even talked about that? you can fit about another 12-14 cds in there too...(that's what i do).

the interior design leads itself to a drivers interior more then a "I need to put a bunch of **** everywhere" type of interior that you get with civics and integras
you gotta remember when this car was built it was made to enchance the driving experiance, the more subtle interior design and how it all leads your eyes towards the windshield work perfectly for what it was designed for.
as a side note, I lug **** all over the place in my lude, give it a week and you start finding places for everything in the car, no really there so many stash spot in the lude that are just slightly out of the way that to the common eye you would never see the spot but if you take 3 minutes and have a general idea of a 5th gens interior you will know it's there, just gotta look.

I agree with this. The interior is about providing an incredible driving experience. Add in the feel of the brakes and steering plus the relationship of the shifter, steering wheel and pedals and the Prelude becomes one of the most intuitive and fun cars I have ever driven and I have driven a lot of cars!
My interior with Mugen Pedals, RSX shift ****, OEM Carbon Trim and JDM Types Guage Bezel, nice and simple:

I personally don't like the interior of the 5th gen. I find its too cheap looking and does seem solid at all (makes lots of noises, etc). I almost bought a 5th gen before buying my '94... But I much prefer the 4th gen dash. The quality of materials alone between the two models is pretty substantial.
