AutoMeter Pro Shift Lite question
What it do everyone? I have a question that I'm hoping someone would be nice enough to help me out with...
I am currently installing an AutoMeter Pro Shift Lite on my 1997 Honda Prelude Type-SH, and I am unsure about the wiring.
The device has three wires: a red one, a black one, and a green one. I know that the red wire is the power wire, the black wire is the ground wire, and the green wire is the sender wire. Like on most other electronic devices, I know to connect the red wire to a switched 12-volt source, and I know to ground the black wire. My question is this: where do I connect the green ( sender ) wire to?
There is a wiring harness on the side of the distributor cap that contains a blue wire. Whenever I was testing the shift light out ( to see if it worked ), I connected the green wire to this blue wire, and it seemed to work fine. However, I know that just because something works doesn't necessarily mean that it is installed correctly. Is this the proper wire to connect it to? Will connecting it to this wire affect my ignition performance in any way? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
By the way, my igniton system consists of all factory Honda parts, except for the spark plug wires, which are MSD Super Conductors.

PrettyLude, I looked around for the harness that you were talking about, and I saw two that were near the passenger's-side strut tower. One is in front of it closer to the factory airbox, and another is to the side of it closer to the engine. They both have a blue wire.

My green wire goes into the MSD 6al Tach output. Haven't seen it operate yet cause i'm about to start the car for the first time, but it lights up when i turn the key and stays on.
So one of you says green, and the other says blue... I'm confused now. This guy on dallasimports.net said to never splice into the distributor output wire, which I'massuming is the green one?
The green wire is the wire coming from the Shift light. your need to attach that wire to the (blue) wire located at the passenger strut tower. Just strip the isolation off and connect the green with that blue wire.
