auto tranny going
Ok so i have an auto tranny and it seems like it doesnt grip third gear. My question is should i change the tranny oil (since my car has 130,000 miles on it and i want the transmission to last 1.5 years cause then i can swap it for a manual) or should i not touch anything and just drive like a granny for the next 1.5 years?
i was just thinking that by changing the oil it will extend the life of the transsmisson b/c the oil that is in there right now is pure black!! so some tips guys!!
I heard this from a guy from a multistate trans shop, and I don't have any proof of it being true. If the oil wasn't changed regularly (every 30k), changing the oil now will bring out any problems with the trans faster. So I'd say, leave it alone.
Well it depends on the shape of the fluid, if its still red and it doesnt have any metal shavings in it then it should be fine to change, but if its black or brown then I wouldnt change it cuz it will bring out all the problems ur tranny has.
Mostly likely changin ur fluid isnt goin to make it better or worse tho cuz if all ur other gears work fine then either a clutch or a band is going bad....
