Default auto to manual conversion

G'day, I have a 2000 Honda prelude with a tiptronic gearbox and i want to convert it to manual. Is it possible to use a gearbox from another model (e.g. integra type r) or do I have to stick with a prelude gearbox because of the engines rotaion direction?

You need to use an H series gearbox H22A or H23 (or the F22 5spd from the Prelude and Accord would work too).

Im not sure in your case but i checked into doing a auto to manual swap in my accord and everyone i talked to told me i was better off just to sell my car and buy a 5sp so thats what i did and i love having a standard they are so much funner to drive.

Auto to manual swaps are a royal pain in the ***. Its going to end up costing a decent amount, plus most likely wont be solid as an original 5spd lude. Id consider just selling your car and getting a manual version to save the hassle.

Hi. Thats my swap page you have listed above. I'm glad you are using it and I hope it proves helpful to some people. Its still a rough draft so don't mind the errors. The swap was the cheapest way out for me, but everyones situation is different.

On a side note:
I had to re-register. Not sure what happened. Maybe its because I hadn't posted in a while.

b series swaps are easy h and f are a pain because you have to weld the plate on in the interior total cost of swap without labor can range from 3-5 even 6 hundred then labor is going to be pretty bad thats where most of the money will go unless you do it your self

I didn't need to weld the plate in. I reinforced the firewall instead. Its worked well so far. No flex at all. $600 for parts??Show me where..A H22A tranny swap is not going to cost 3-6 hundred and don't forget all the extra stuff you need. You should be looking in the $1000 to $2000 range for all the parts. Labor shouldn't take more than 8 to 10 hours for a skilled tech with the proper info (including the necessary wiring). To get an 5th Gen Prelude auto tranny rebuilt (properly) will cost just as much or more. Then you risk it breaking again.

ViS--very good web design stuff. I wish I could do stuff like that.

Hi. Thats my swap page you have listed above.
I went to the dealer and asked for my manuals and stuff (I bought my auto from the dealer) It turned out they had all the spare keys and stuff in a manila envelope and gave them to me with the manuals.

You should call and ask.
