Auto-5spd Ecu conversion question
Ok so my 5speed swap was completed today. Car drives great but has a couple ecu (im assuming) bugs. Mainly a CEL, no reverse lights, and a pulsating idle.
Now Ive read this thread
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1275452
I wanna know if Im understanding it correctly, if I do this to my current stock auto ecu it *should* get rid of the most of the problems I listed? So the auto and manual ecu are actually the same part just wired a bit differently, or is this just a workaround to trick it into thinking its a 5spd ecu?
My friend says that that conversion if for AFTER I get a 5spd ecu, In order for it be accepted or whatever. But that doesnt make much sense to me, yet I can somehow see where hes coming from.
Anyways some confirmation on this would help, or possibly some alternate ideas to get rid of some of the little problems, hopefully from others who have done the swap.

if you read it, you will find that most of the same stuff applies to the 5th gen, everything you need is there....

Use your current auto ECU and peform that mod to change it into 5sp. That should get rid of the CEL or D4 flashing.
Your friend said that mod should be done after you get a 5sp ECU? Change it into what? 5sp? He is dumb!
